What this is

The Other Chair is a media brand, a physical card system, and a structured conversation platform. It supports communication between adults who both choose to take part.

What this is not

It is not therapy, counselling, medical or mental-health treatment, crisis intervention, mediation of a legal dispute, or legal advice. Nobody here is acting as your clinician or your lawyer. Taking part promises no particular outcome — not reconciliation, forgiveness, friendship, intimacy, or future contact.

You must be 18 or older

You may only use this site, apply, or take part in a conversation if you are 18 or older.

Consent, and never on someone else’s behalf

You may only describe or invite another person if it is honest and safe to do so. Applying does not enroll anyone else — the other person is contacted separately and decides independently. Do not use this site to reach someone who has told you not to contact them, or where contact is legally restricted.

Do not use this platform when

• A protective, restraining, or no-contact order is in place.
• Anyone fears violence, retaliation, stalking, or coercive control.
• Someone would be participating by surprise, pressure, or deception.
• The purpose is to prove who was right, gather evidence, or extract an admission.

What you write

You keep ownership of what you submit. You give us permission to read, store, and use it to review your application and run the service. We will not publish anything identifiable about you or the person in your story without separate, specific, written consent.

Recording is never automatic. Any filmed participation requires its own consent, agreed topic boundaries, and the right to withdraw.

Products

Card decks are not on sale yet. Prices shown are indicative and may change. Joining the launch list is not an order, creates no obligation on either side, and takes no payment.

Availability and changes

The site is provided as is. We may change, suspend, or withdraw any part of it, and we may update these terms; material changes will be noted with a new effective date.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Vieux Riche, LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of this site or from a conversation you choose to have. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Jersey, United States.
